Cookie Policy
Draft — effective date to be set at public launch. Prepared for review by counsel; not yet in force.
The short version: we use cookies to keep you signed in, keep accounts safe, remember preferences, and understand usage. No advertising cookies today, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a site. “Session” cookies expire when you close your browser; “persistent” cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. We also use similar technologies: local storage (data saved in your browser), and pixels/web beacons (tiny images that register when content is viewed).
2. First-party and third-party
First-party cookies are set by Trusavo. Third-party cookies are set by services we embed — for example, our authentication provider (Clerk) sets cookies to keep you signed in, and our analytics provider sets cookies to help us understand usage. We do not allow advertising networks to set cookies on the Platform today; if that changes, this policy and your consent options will be updated first.
3. The categories we use
- •Strictly necessary — sign-in sessions and authentication, security and fraud prevention, load balancing, and remembering consent choices. These cannot be switched off; the Platform does not function without them. Fraud-prevention cookies are in this category because protecting escrow accounts is a core function, not marketing.
- •Functional / preferences — language (English/Spanish), theme, dismissed notices, saved form progress. Optional; disabling them makes the site forgetful but functional.
- •Analytics / performance — anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, features used, errors encountered) that help us improve the product. Optional.
- •Advertising / targeting — not currently used. If we ever introduce them, they will be off by default pending your consent.
4. Your choices
Where consent is required, non-essential cookies are set only after you accept them via the cookie notice, and you can change your choices anytime from the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer. Declining optional cookies never blocks access to the Platform.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as an opt-out of any cookie-based targeted advertising. We do not currently respond to legacy “Do Not Track” headers, which lack a standard meaning; GPC is the signal we act on.
5. Browser and device controls
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies in its settings (typically under Privacy or Site Data in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent sign-in. On mobile, your device settings also control app-level identifiers.
6. Changes
We will update this policy when our cookie usage changes, with a revised date — and, for material changes (like introducing an advertising category), advance notice and renewed consent prompts.
